Wraparound Childcare (WAC) scheme
Defence recognises that Service parents face additional difficulties when trying to access good quality, affordable childcare for their children. The Wraparound Childcare (WAC) scheme is designed to assist working families with the cost of before and after school childcare and to allow partners to get back into work (or work more hours). PARENTING
Parenting is not an easy task and we know parents want to do the best by their children. Often life events can get in the way of our parenting and many parents face challenges with their child’s behaviour which they feel impacts on the parent-child relationship.
LEAVING CHILDREN HOME ALONE
Deciding if your child is ready to be left home alone can be a tricky decision. There are lots of things to think about. Plus, there are no hard and fast ‘home alone’ rules or laws because every child is different.
DOMESTIC ABUSE & VIOLENCE
The Ministry Of Defence has a zero tolerance policy regarding Domestic Violence and Abuse - you should not hesitate to call the Military Police who can help you.
BULLYING
Parents and carers have to be alert to the possibility of bullying and must always take action if they think their own or other children are being bullied. Be alert and take action. Don’t just think it will go away, or that ‘it’s just kids being kids’.
PRIVATE FOSTERING
Do you know someone who is caring, or intending to care, for someone else’s child? If this is for more than 28 days and not by a close family member then this is a Private Fostering arrangement and BFSWS MUST be notified.
SELF-ESTEEM
Self-esteem is about how we see our own worth or our abilities. The phrase self-esteem is often used to describe whether someone likes themselves or not or is confident in their ability to do something or not.
