WHO ARE WE?

From 1 July 2020 Social Work Service & Community Support in South Atlantic Islands is being managed and delivered by Polaris Children’s Services, an independent provider of social care services across the UK and the military around the world. Our remit is to provide social work and community services to the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) community. We work in partnership with other welfare and medical organisations to deliver high quality services to BFSAI personnel, both individuals and families.

OUR MISSION

Smiling Girl

“To make a positive and lasting difference to children, families and adults, in the military communities we serve. We will achieve this through the delivery of a responsive, safe and high quality Social Work Service working together with people who use our Services as well as partner agencies. This is based on our belief that Service Personnel and their families should have access to the same standards of care and support they would receive if they were based in the UK.”

This is supported by our five key objectives:

  • A whole-system approach

  • exemplary and effective evidence-based practice

  • promotion of good emotional health and wellbeing, and building resilience

  • promoting achievement, attainment and active citizenship for our children and young people

  • supporting a ‘Firm Base’ for the military community

CHILD IN NEED

Early Help.png

Where emerging issues within a family may be impacting on a child’s welfare and development, BFSWS will assess the needs of the child and family. Together with the family, we will plan the support they need to thrive as a family and prevent the child from becoming at risk (through a Child in Need Plan).
